Florida Gulf Coast RentalsFlorida
Gulf Coast rentals are available from Perdido Key, the westernmost city
in
Mainland
Florida's Gulf Coast is protected in many places by a series of offshore
islands. Known as barrier islands, these strips of land lie just off the
mainland and are bordered by the Gulf of Mexico on one side, usually a
bay on the opposite side and an inlet, bay or Gulf waters on each end.
The islands vary greatly in size, shape, length and width but most have
the typical white, sandy beach facing the Gulf of Mexico. Near the population
centers or where it was economically convenient, the State of Florida
linked many of these islands
Those vacationers seeking Florida Gulf Coast rentals and opting for beach vacations complete with pounding surf and sandy beaches should seek rental properties in the Panhandle from Perdido Key to the Mexico Beach area, including St. Joe Beach. With some notable exceptions, like Cape San Blas, St. George Island and Alligator Point, the next large stretch of good, easily accessible coastal beach area starts at Clearwater Beach and runs south to Marco Island. While there are some good beaches, and certainly good vacation areas, that exist between Mexico Beach and Clearwater Beach, most are isolated or on bridgeless islands, making access difficult. Even Florida Keys properties fit within this latter description.
For those exploring Florida and not overly concerned with visits to the beach, areas inland from the shoreline and all along the Gulf Coast have excellent potential with State Parks, forest and preserve walking trails, estuarine and back bay areas, and boating, kayak and canoe waterways. Florida Gulf Coast rentals can be found for all inland and coastal areas and rates scaled, from the greater to the least as one moves inland.
